According to this map, I was born on the border of Reds and Indians territory (Dayton, Ohio). However, from what I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's, it was all Cincy when it came to baseball fans.

Now, regarding the changing minor league affiliations, I hadn't thought about that. I guess that's why you're the Chairman and I'm still stuck working the copy machine.

Honestly, I'm surprised the White Sox territory is as big as it is. (But I do think that's a good thing. When it comes to choosing between the Sox and Cubs, I'm a fair weather fan.)Greg McConnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17504912601218236507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12661191.post-3921867385496017052007-08-22T03:32:00.000-05:002007-08-22T03:32:00.000-05:00What would be sweet is to have a number of these m...What would be sweet is to have a number of these maps, one for each decade in baseball to see how fans in a territory evolve over time. For example, the Reds have had their territory shrink quite a bit over the past 15 years, not only because the Indians have improved since the mid-90's, but also the Braves and their success.

Similarly, you'd see effects due to minor league affiliation changes.

And back in the 50's and 60's, you'd see even deeper affiliations - a place like Oklahoma was prime Yankees territory. A certain #7 had something to do with that.Chairmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02042114331279771820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12661191.post-69481465664942611642007-08-18T02:49:00.000-05:002007-08-18T02:49:00.000-05:00There are still Cubs fans? There are still Cubs fans?Robbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13174642455891724715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12661191.post-1272471313301366682007-08-16T12:00:00.000-05:002007-08-16T12:00:00.000-05:00Too funny! If these were really countries the Cubs would represent China because just as cities coast-to-coast have their Chinatowns it's a safe bet that anywhere you go you'll find cells of Cubs fans too. (Of course that's probably also true with Yankees fans but I'm not gonna go there....)lisa :)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11429572773434109490noreply@blogger.com
