Urbanism

Who said this:

I’m not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me.

Gotta love the consistency. A (fill in the blank) blogger links an elitist newspaper that quotes an elitist politician being an elitist.

Yeah. But the suburbs do suck.

What? Chairman, you come from a state that is basically one giant suburb.

Chairman, you can officially kiss your 2016 chances goodbye. If you ever try to run for national office, I will use your previous "suburbs do suck" quote against you in the American heartland! =)

Who's more elitist? A corporate scion who flees to the suburbs and his monstrous nouveau mansion or the city dweller who seeks to commune with the vibrant synergy of the city and passes on an expansive estate for that reason.

Oneway - All that suggests is that I have plenty of experience with regard to sucky suburbs.

Greg - Don't get me started on other things that suck. I'm not fond of old people, so the AARP bloc is out. Thank God children can't vote, because I don't like them, either.

Westy - You can be elitist anywhere. I would guess that most city dwellers who could legitimately be elitist probably are, as a fairly standard procedure is to shelter yourself in high-rent districts, have groceries delivered, and have drivers handle your transportation for you.

C-Lauff - Chime in. You know you want to.

Like I've always said, there's good and there's bad everywhere one can live. If one wants to be elitist, one only has to surround themselves with the conveniences that separates themselves from the rest of society. This is assuming of course that one has the money to do this. Just because the elitist in the suburbs expresses his elitism in the form of a big house, doesn't mean that the lack of mansions in the city means that there aren't any.

Westy, I know you loathe the suburbs, but you act like everyone lives in a mansion and keeps to himself while everyone in the city is "roughing it" for the sake of the common man which is highly overexaggerated.

And I can agree with that.
